15th November 2012 - New Life Vest Policy

Cruise Lines International Association (CLIA) has published three new policies to improve safety on cruise ships. The most important, in our opinion, beeing the one which recommends storage of life vests close to assembly or embarkation stations. Until now, the life vests on board of cruise ships are stored in the cabins, which according to our research will lead to severe congestions of passengers in an assembly situation.
We congratulate CLIA on this wise decision, which is discussed at IMO since years.

9th November 2012 - Seminar "Evacuation Analyses" within the FST Seminars

A training on universitarian level at the Donau-University in Krems was organized by FST covering fire safety engineering methods. Together with Nathalie Waldau, Tim Meyer-König introduced the participants to the topic of evacuation analyses. Next to the general introduction, the participants learned, how to handle PedGo and used it for a complete analysis of a little venue. The joint discussion of the results further improved the understanding of the possibilities and difficulties of these simulations.
We thank all participants for the constructive work!
