Look forward to this years christmas cards! This years image was influenced by the HERMES research project which was finalized in this year and evolved in our new PedGo Guardian software. Connected to an automatic counting system for pedestrians, the Guardian supervises the security of events and warns the user, if critical densities or evacuation durations are reached.
14th November 2011 - Conclusion of the research project HERMES

24th September 2011 - Presentation of the HERMES Evacuation Assistant
On 24th, September the Evacuation Assistant of the research project HERMES was presented in the ESPRIT arena of Düsseldorf. The main characteristic of the assistant is the forecast of possible hazards on the basis of current person flows and person numbers.

31st August 2011 - Evacuation Exercise in Graz (Austria)
On 31st August, 2011 an evacuation exercise was conducted in the new exhibition hall A in Graz (Austria). Before the evacuation exercise took place, the situation was analyzed by using the evacuation simulation PedGo. After the exercise, the results of the exercise were compared to the results of the simulation.

9th June 2011 - TraffGo at the Showtec in Berlin
The International Fair Showtec took place from 7th - 9th June in Berlin. The Showtec is a trade fair for stage and event technology. In cooperation with xEMP, TraffGo has presented technical advances in the optimization of person flows by the use of simulations.
4th - 8th April 2011 - MATSim Tutorial and User Meeting 2011

23rd March 2011 - Research Project GRIPS granted
On March, 1st 2011 the research project GRIPS - GIS based risk assessment and incident preparation with MA simulation
(Research Grant Number: 13N11381) is granted by the Bundesministerium für Bildung und Forschung (BMBF). Project
Administrator is the VDI Technology Center (www.vditz.de). Goal of the project is the development of a software based assessment system for the evacuation of large scale areas in emergency situations. The cooperation consists of three related (TraffGo HT, Heidelberg University, Berlin Institute of Technology) and three associated partners (Fire Department Essen, Ministry of the Interior of Hamburg, City of Kerpen).

The diploma thesis Evacuation Analysis of a district of the Free and Hanseatic City of Hamburg by Dirk Durst is available for download (in german) in the category studies. This thesis deals with the simulation of the evacuation of the district Wilhelmsburg in Hamburg under application of the software tool MATSim.
